he's a good boy
      #249372 - 07/18/15 06:43 AM

I've been out a good part of the week as usual.
When I got home yesterday I got a nice surprise
ZD bought installed a flagpole in the yard
while I was gone,,,,sure was a pretty site to see Ole Glory flyin my yard And yes there is a Rebel flag on the table if I choose to run it up the pole...For rite now I'm just enjoying the stars and stripes,,,it sure is pretty.
Nice to sit out and watch her wave in the breeze with my morning cup of coffee,,,,lots of history on that pole,,makes a person think,,,makes a person thankful and it's very humbling.
God bless America

That's a proud papa moment. It just means you did a good job raising him...

Always a little confused about the Rebel flag folks. Perhaps you can enlighten me Red. You see, I have no great desire to see it banned or offer any great support for displaying it. But it does confuse me. As a result, I err on the side of the 1st Amendment and support your right to fly it. But I also support your right to burn Old Glory and/or fly it upside down. My opinion is that the 1st Amendment is to protect us from the tyranny of the majority, when it comes to discussing or showing our displeasure with the actions of our government. As distasteful as some of these actions or speeches may be, we have a right to them...

That leads me to always wonder what is in the heads of people, when I stand in support of whatever goofy thing they're doing. For example, I want to axe the Ferguson protestors why they think burning an American flag is appropriate and what they hope to accomplish, beyond inciting riots and getting most white people to hate you even more. Of course that leads me to the Confederate flag waving folks. I want to say to them, "Newsflash, that was 150 years ago and that side, thankfully, was soundly defeated. Just what is the point?" I think most just saw it on the hood of the General Lee and thought it was "cool".

So help me out Red. As you know, I'm not that smart (except the sport forum where I have to keep them all in line). Why does one fly the Rebel flag or paint it on his truck or wear it on their clothing? Are you hoping the South with rise again? Is there a secret plan I am not aware of? If so, when will this rising begin? I would have thought it would have happened by now, if it were going to happen.

I ain't agin folks of color,,,some of them are my best friends have been for years,,,special people in my life.
I am somewhat of a rebel,I guess,,,I don't own a negro and never wanted to I do however think that our government is shuvin it up our ass just as they did back then And to me that is what the Rebel flag stands for,,,peoples rites of all colors,,,we the people..Not the government...
They seem to be trying to take away my rites as a middle income WORKING man and give them to whatever crowd that makes the most noise,,,and my income...I work my ass off and am gone for weeks at a time, you bet yer azz I miss my family,,,but I gotta do it,,Hard to pay for our insurance,,but there is a whole lot of of others I have to pay for as well,,non productive citizens of all colors.
At that point I can rebel.
As for the slaves they were incaptured and sold by black muslims(just like our president) And look it up there were more Irish slaves brought to America than negros...All the Irish ask for is a green beer once a year....
I guess if I fly the Rebel flag,,,it has not a damn thing to do with slavery,,,other than the slavery my government is trying to impart on me and the other working folks of this great nation.
On a side note every one of them in office should be and could be impeached,,they laid their hand on(omg can I say this a BIBLE) and swore to uphold the Constituion of the United States of America...Seems like the promise they made is to change it to suit themselves....For that reason,,I I'll fly a Rebel flag,,if I want,,just the same as they did down south years ago,,never was about blacks,,,but it sure as hell was about slaves...The kind the government impliments.
Rick thank yer boys for me,,takes a special kind of person to fite for a country that won't fite back for them,,they are good boys...

Fair enough. At least now I understand why YOU want to fly it... Again, good job raising the boy/young man/man...

Oh , Sprtsman......I fly it because I am from GA and I take great pride in my Southern heritage ...it ain"t sbout slavery or anything like it. I don't expect YOU to ever understand but I am proud of that flag. My family fought , died and survived defending it. YOU will never get it and I don't expect you to and I have no desire to debate it with YOU. Have a nice hockey day!

Sincerely ,
your local true southern gentleman

Bubba you ain't wrong,,,southern folks are the most polite folks I've ever met,, regardless of of the shade of their skin Miss,,Mister,,Please,,Thank You,,sure there is some trash of all shades, just as everywhere,,but it is way more prevalent round here...Charleston SC.....Handled their killings way better than the state of MO... OR any danged other for that matter...I can see them wanting to make changes in that part of the country,,,but I'm an ole grumpy bastard,,that is tired of the same things the Rebels were tired of,,a government that I pay for that does not work for us... It ain't about color,,not to me,,other than the color of my elected officials,,and I would call them TURN COATS plain and simple.

You sound a little touchy and defensive there my Southern gentleman friend. I have no reason to doubt your motives. Don't we all have a deep sense of connection to our relatives that fought in the 1860's?

Now give me a good ol' Rebel Yell....
